Is the product I'm looking for in stock and available?

You will be able to tell on the product page whether or not a product is in stock and available, as the availability of the product will be listed as the number of products in inventory, "Out of stock" or "Sold Out".

What are your return policies?

We offer free returns or exchanges within 7 days of receiving your order, provided items are unused and in their original packaging. To initiate a return, email us at sales@kochknives.co.za with your order details, and we’ll guide you through the process.

When will I receive my order?

Most orders are delivered within 5–7 working days from dispatch. Our couriers collect daily from our Cape Town warehouse, with slightly longer delivery times for rural areas.

Location

We operate exclusively online and do not have a retail store. Our warehouse in Cape Town is not open for public visits.

What type of steel is used in your knives?

Our knives are crafted from high-quality stainless and carbon steels, carefully selected for durability, sharpness, and corrosion resistance. Each blade is precision-forged to ensure exceptional performance, whether for professional chefs or home cooking enthusiasts.

Steels Used in Our Knives:

  • 1095 Carbon Steel – Exceptional edge retention and easy to sharpen, ideal for heavy-duty use.
  • 15N20 Steel – Often layered with 1095 in Damascus blades for added strength and striking patterns.
  • 420 Stainless Steel – Highly corrosion-resistant, perfect for kitchen and outdoor use.
  • VG-10 Stainless Steel – Premium Japanese steel with excellent sharpness and durability.
  • Damascus Steel (Layered 1095 & 15N20) – Aesthetic layered pattern with superior cutting performance.
  • High Carbon Stainless Combinations – Balances sharpness, toughness, and rust resistance.

Knife Care

  1. Clean Promptly: After each use, rinse your knife under warm, soapy water, gently scrub with a non-abrasive sponge, rinse again, and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
  2. Apply a Protective Coat: Once dry, apply a light layer of food-safe mineral oil to the blade to prevent moisture-induced corrosion.
  3. Proper Storage: Store your knife in a dry environment. Avoid leather sheaths for long-term storage, as they can trap moisture; instead, wrap the blade in a soft cloth after oiling.
  4. Avoid Dishwashers: Never place your knife in a dishwasher, as the high heat and detergents can damage the blade and handle.
  5. Handle with Care: Always dry your knife immediately after washing to prevent rust spots, and never leave it submerged in water or resting on damp surfaces.
